Scottish Tartans Design set to Mark the Arrival of Chinese Pandas
Scottish tartans have taken another new design this year to mark the arrival of giant pandas in Edinburgh Zoo before the end of the year. The Scottish Register of Tartans, which approves applications for new patterns, has released details on its website of “The Edinburgh Zoo Panda” design, created to celebrate the arrival of breeding pair Tian Tian and Yangguang.
The main colours are black and white, representing the pandas. There’s also red for China and green to represent bamboo, the animals’ favourite food. Red overchecks in blocks represent the number “3”, which symbolises luck and is similar to the Chinese character for birth. Grey shades convey the gradation of colour from black to white as seen on the pandas’ fur. Edinburgh the historic capital of Scotland, is famous in many aspects such as Canyoning, White Water Rafting and many other adventure activities.

What we saw at the Deak Kum Pa Orphanage...We were travelling to the Deak Kum Pa Orphanage in Laos and in our hearts we carried a picture of an orphanage that was heavily inspired by the films that we saw and the books we read. Personally speaking, I had never visited an orphanage before and I always attributed to the place an atmosphere of gloom and glum solitariness that was far from being pleasant. Prompted by friends, I decided to go visit the Deak Kum Pa Orphanage, supported by the Cobra Group.
